About Steve Stauning
David has a unique blend of dealership and manufacturer experience. As
dealer principal of his family-owned dealership, he learned how to make every
dime count and produce sales each day. With FordDirect.com, as a founder
and Chief Operating Officer, he worked with a talented team to create an
industry leading automotive Internet company. As a partner in Jack Kain Ford
and Kain Family Ford, he recognizes how important it is to make every facet of
a dealership profitable. As the founder and CEO of KainAutomotive, David
uniquely understands the needs of the hundreds of dealerships he’s helped
over the years.
The Internet provides an excellent opportunity for dealers to improve sales and

About David Kain
Prior to founding Kain-Stauning with business partner David Kain, Steve served
as the Asbury Automotive Group’s (NYSE: ABG) director of ecommerce. At
Asbury, he was responsible for helping their 120+ franchises maximize the
effective use of the Web and related technology to grow sales, drive fixed and
variable revenue, increase customer satisfaction and gain operational
efficiencies. Working with individual dealerships and regional personnel to
establish effective Internet sales processes and cutting edge tactics allowed
him to see firsthand what motivates Internet shoppers to buy. Under Steve’s
leadership, Asbury dealers consistently maintained industry-leading Internet
sales results.
Steve joined Asbury on the retail side after serving on the vendor side of the
business as the director of the Web Solutions division of the Reynolds &
Reynolds Company. At Reynolds & Reynolds, he led the team that successfully
sold, designed, built and maintained over 7,000 automotive dealer websites.
Prior to his time with Reynolds & Reynolds, he served as general manager for
Dealer Web Services at Dealer Specialties, where he oversaw the development
and execution of data and Internet-related services for Dealer Specialties’
10,000 automotive dealers. In addition to serving as a principal of Kain-
Stauning, Steve is also the founder of pladoogle.com, an ecommerce
solutions firm.
With Steve’s vast and unique experience on both the retail and vendor sides of
the automotive ecommerce space, he brings a distinctive skill set and
perspective to the dealers he serves. Additionally, Steve is widely considered
one of the top automotive industry experts in search engine optimization,
search engine marketing, ecommerce marketing, website design and Internet
